Q: What should I do if I need my health insurance?

A: If you need your health insurance, please contact AP Health Insurance on +45 7010 0117 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and on Fridays between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Q: My employer pays all or part of the health insurance – will I have to pay tax?

A: To avoid you having to pay tax on the cost of treatment covered by the insurance, you will be taxed on the part of the premium that relates to your leisure time.

This part represents 35 percent of the annual cost of the health insurance.

You do not have to report to Skat yourself, either AP Pension or your employer will do this.

Q: Do I have to provide health information in order to be covered by the health insurance?

A: No, you are not required to provide health information.

Ongoing treatment

Q: I am undergoing treatment in a private hospital which is covered by my previous provider. What are the consequences of switching to AP Health Insurance?

A: Once you are on an approved course of treatment through your current healthcare provider, it will cover the approved treatment time. The period/duration of treatment will be stated in the approval letter from your healthcare provider.

If you need more treatment, please contact AP Health Insurance.

Q: Can I get cover for an injury for which I am already receiving treatment in the public sector when my insurance takes effect?

A: If you have started treatment in the public sector, AP Health Insurance will not cover treatment for the same injury.

Spouse/cohabiting partner

Q: Can I register my spouse/cohabiting partner with AP Health Insurance?

A: Yes. However, you must be aware that your spouse/cohabiting partner will be subject to a restriction of benefit for six months in the case of medical conditions that have arisen before the insurance takes effect.

Registration of a spouse/cohabiting partner can only take effect on the date on which you are covered by the health insurance. Register using this registration form.

When you have completed and signed the form, you must send it to AP Pension via appension.dk/en/contact

Q: My spouse/cohabiting partner is registered with my current healthcare provider. Can I transfer them to my new health insurance?

A: Yes, you can register your spouse/cohabiting partner for this health insurance. Please note that your spouse/cohabiting partner must register within three months of the end of your spouse’s/cohabiting partner’s current health insurance. If not, your spouse/cohabiting partner will not be able to transfer his/her seniority from his/her previous insurance, and there will be six months’ restriction of benefit in the case of existing medical conditions.

If your spouse/cohabiting partner has a different end date than you have on your current health insurance, your spouse may risk that the new health insurance can only be taken out at a later date.

Q: What does AP Health Insurance cost for spouses/cohabiting partners?

A: If you would like a price for your spouse/cohabiting partner, please contact AP Pension on +45 3916 5000.

Children

Q: Are children automatically covered by AP Health Insurance as is the case in the current health insurance?

A: Yes, if your employer has chosen collective child cover. You can see this on the insurance certificate.

If not, you can register your children (under the age of 24) as co-insured persons.
Please note that your child will be subject to a restriction of benefit for six months in the case of medical conditions that have arisen before the insurance takes effect.

You can avoid this restriction of benefit in whole or in part if your child is already covered by health insurance, as your child can transfer his/her seniority from the previous insurance if:

  • Register your children within three months of the end of the current health insurance.
  • The effective date follows on from the termination date of your previous health insurance.

Register using this registration form.

When you have completed and signed the form, please send it to AP Pension via appension.dk/en/contact

Q: Which children can be covered by AP Health Insurance?

A: Your biological children, adoptive children, foster children, stepchildren and/or your partner’s children under the age of 24. Children are not required to have the same address as you.
